TAM-C - Special Session: Women in Radiation Protection

Room 124   08:00 - 12:00

TAM-C.1   08:00  Using DiSC® Assessment Profiles for Strengthening Working Relationships In Radiation Protection: A Professional Development Seminar WW Kuhne*, Savannah River National Laboratory

Abstract: Individuals working in the field of radiation protection are often met with challenging technical issues requiring a collaborative effort among several individuals from a variety of scientific disciplines. The ability to compile, distill, and communicate information within and among the team can be challenging given the various behavioral preferences and styles of the various individuals. In an effort to improve team productivity and communication many organizations are utilizing the DiSC® profile. Through a series of targeted questions individuals can learn about their personality and behavior preferences. Team leads and members of the team can use this information to help respond to conflict, learn what motivates individuals, identify sources of stress, and recognize the communication needs of team members. This special session will involve a hands-on interactive opportunity for participants to learn about the DiSC® system from an expert, identify their own profile, and gain a new perspective on workplace interactions.
